Eryk Anders asked for a fight with Lyoto Machida at UFC Belem, and he got it. The pair of middleweights will collide in a five-round main event in Belem, Brazil, on Feb. 3, sources confirmed to MMA Fighting following a report by MMA Today.
Anders (10-0) enters his first UFC main event backed by a pair of dominating wins over Brazilian middleweights Rafael Natal and Markus Perez. The undefeated American only went the distance three times in a little over three years as a professional MMA fighter.
Machida (22-8), a former 205-pound champion in the UFC, desperately needs a win after being finished in his last three fights in the Octagon. “The Dragon” recently returned from a two-year USADA suspension and lost to Derek Brunson in the main event of UFC Sao Paulo.
UFC Belem currently includes Valentina Shevchenko vs. Priscila Cachoeira, Thiago Santos vs. Anthony Smith, Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Joseph Morales, Tim Johnson vs. Marcelo Golm, and Maia Stevenson vs. Polyana Viana.
