David Rickels Bellator

Bellator is making some late changes to its card next week.

With Derek Anderson injured, David Rickels will step in on short notice to face Adam Piccolotti at Bellator 189 on Dec. 1 at WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Okla., the promotion announced Wednesday.

Rickels (18-4) last fought back in January, a third-round TKO win over Aaron Derrow. “The Caveman” is currently on a three-fight unbeaten streak. Rickels, 28, only has one loss in his last six fights and it came to former Bellator champion Michael Chandler.

Piccolotti (9-1) is coming off the first loss of his career, to Goiti Yamauchi by first-round submission in September. The California native racked up five straight wins under the Bellator banner prior to that. Piccolotti, 29, has won six of his nine victories via finish.

Bellator 189 is headlined by a women’s featherweight title fight between champion Julia Budd and challenger Arlene Blencowe. In the co-main event, Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace Rafael Lovato Jr. puts his undefeated streak in MMA on the line against Chris Honeycutt.
