Markus Perez is the newest addition to the UFC middleweight division.
Less than two months after winning the vacant LFA title with a first-round submission over Ian Heinisch, in which he wore a UFC Reebok short, the undefeated Brazilian has inked a deal with the UFC, sources told MMA Fighting.
Perez will make his Octagon debut against Eryk Anders at UFC Fresno, MMA Fighting has learned. Anders (9-0), who impressed in his UFC debut in July with a quick victory over longtime veteran Rafael Natal, was originally scheduled to meet John Phillips.
Perez, 27, scored wins over UFC veterans Paulo Thiago and Ildemar Alcantara before making his first appearance under the LFA banner, and all it took was one quick victory for him to win the belt, improve to 9-0 in MMA and get UFC’s attention.
