Jon Jones is no stranger to outside the cage controversy. He also knows a thing or two about failed comebacks, having twice returned to the cage off of suspension only to be re-suspended shortly thereafter. So who better to comment on the altercation yesterday where former heavyweight champion threw a boomerang at Colby Covington in Sydney, Australia?
Covington has recently stirred up a lot of anger for calling Brazilian fans “filthy animals” after beating Demian Maia at UFC Sao Paulo. He also repeated the comment on his Instagram Live after yesterday’s altercation and called Werdum a “f****t.” Covington’s xenophobic comments seem to have also angered Jones who Tweeted that Werdum did a “good job” for standing up to Covington’s “racism.”
I despise racism , good job today @FabricioWerdum dude had the audacity to call you a "faggot" as he's backing up on Facebook live.

Jones does not appear to be aware of Werdum’s own recent trouble with that particular gay slur, having used it repeatedly at a media luncheon with Tony Ferguson in September. He is fairly knowledgeable about Covington though, who he roomed with Iowa Central Community College in the late 2000’s. But based on Covington’s recent comments calling Jones a “piece of s**t dirtbag,” it would appear that they two aren’t all that fond of each other.
Jones is waiting for his disciplinary hearing to resolve the issue of his failed drug test at UFC 217.

Kelvin on Covington trying to fight former heavyweight champions.
He should be glad that’s all he got!! He’s messing with the wrong ppl

He’s gotta understand he’s dealing with a different breed of Brazilians!! These are gangsters from brazil who later learned to fight! What an idiot!

Trying to get the champ of a division in on 6 weeks notice is a bold plan.
I need someone for Dec 30th and @ufc needs a main event! Lets go @TJDillashaw. You only fought for 7 and a half minutes, I know you're in shape and healthy. Step up and stop trying to run down to 125.

Covington at least picking a fight with a guy his own size.
Let me introduce the internet to its new favorite meme. Anytime you say you deserve something, but nobody else does or you're just being a big fat hypocrite. You're a #TwoFaceTyrone pic.twitter.com/9utCaDTgL2

FINAL THOUGHTS
Two dudes, who have recently been embroiled in controversy from saying bigoted things, get into an altercation with one of them throwing a boomerang at the other, in Australia. AKA, the most MMA thing ever.
Take it easy and see y’all tomorrow.
