Martin Nguyen made history in Manila.
The ONE Championship featherweight champion moved up to lightweight to challenge titleholder Eduard Folayang in the main event of Friday’s ONE Championship event in Philippines, and captured the gold with an impressive knockout.
Both fighters traded spinning attacks in the opening round, but nothing major was landed. In the second frame, though, Nguyen countered Folayang’s spinning kick with a vicious right hand that dropped “Landslide" out cold on the ground.
Nguyen now holds a 9-1 record, having avenged his only defeat earlier this year, and currently rides a five-fight winning streak with five stoppages.
