An American Top Team grudge match isn’t going to go down after all Saturday night.
Nik Lentz has been pulled from a fight with former teammate Will Brooks at UFC 216 in Las Vegas due to medical issues, the UFC announced Friday morning. Combat Press was the first to report the news.
Brooks weighed was on weight at 156 pounds for the lightweight bout Friday morning, but Lentz did not weigh in. The two men have exchanged harsh words on social media leading up to the fight. Lentz recently left American Top Team in Florida to train at nearby Combat Club with striking coach Henri Hooft.
The bout between Brooks and Lentz was scheduled to be the featured prelim on FX on Saturday night’s card.
A flyweight fight between Matt Schnell and Marco Beltran will move up to the FX prelims and the card will go forward with 12 contests.
