A welterweight clash between Chris Gruetzemacher and Davi Ramos was added to the UFC’s first event in Fresno on Dec. 9, the promotion announced Thursday. The match-up was first reported by Combate.
Gruetzemacher (13-2), a one-time Strikeforce competitor who fought on The Ultimate Fighter in 2015, going 2-1 on the reality show with a defeat to Artem Lobov, is looking for his second win since joining the UFC.
“Gritz" beat Abner Lloveras via decision in his official Octagon debut, dropping to 1-1 under the promotion’s banner with a submission loss to Chas Skelly last February.
Ramos (6-2), on the other hand, is going for his first UFC victory after losing a short-notice fight with Sergio Moraes in March. The ADCC gold medalist signed with the UFC after winning five of six with four stoppages.
The only blemish in Ramos’ pre-UFC record came in his Bellator debut, an unanimous decision against David Rickels in 2014.
UFC Fight Night 123 takes place at the SaveMart Center in Fresno, Calif., and features a featherweight bout between Cub Swanson and Brian Ortega in the main event.
