The UFC has been all over Australia and now it is adding Perth to its list of Down Under destinations.

On Monday evening, the promotion announced that the Octagon will be making a stop at the Perth Arena on Feb. 11 (Feb. 10 in North America) for UFC 221. It will be the 12th time that the UFC has visited Australia having previously scheduled shows in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, and Gold Coast.

This marks the UFC’s second trip to Australia in four months, with UFC Sydney taking place on Nov. 18.

The press release included comments from interim middleweight champion Robert Whittaker, the first UFC titleholder of Australian descent.

“This isn’t just huge news for UFC, but for the sport of MMA in Western Australia,” Whittaker said. “Finally, MMA can be competed nationwide in the field of play specifically designed for the sport.

“Anything can happen between now and Sunday, February 11. With that said, fighting on home soil is always a dream come true and I’d love to unify the UFC middleweight title here in Australia. My next stop is New York City to be Octagon-side for UFC 217 – let’s see what happens in that main event between Michael Bisping and Georges St-Pierre.”

No bouts have been booked for UFC 221.
