Derek Brunson’s first-round knockout of Lyoto Machida didn’t exactly make him a favorite of the sellout crowd of 10,265 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

But it did earn him a bonus.

Brunson’s 10th career knockout snagged him one of the $50,000 Performance of the Night bonuses at UFC Sao Paulo. That marked the third post-fight bonus of his UFC tenure.

The other Performance of the Night award went to Pedro Munhoz, who improved to 15-2 (1 NC) with a first-round submission win over Rob Font. That marked the bantamweight’s third Performance of the Night honor in his past five fights.

The bout between Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos and Max Griffin was very nearly stopped near the end of the third round, as Griffin took a lot of damage. But the welterweight contest continued and went the distance. Zaleski won what turned into a back-and-forth slugfest and both competitors took home $50,000 for Fight of the Night.
