Well, Gegard Mousasi’s Bellator debut didn’t go as many expected.
The former UFC middleweight contender took on Alexander Shlemenko in the main event of Bellator 185, which went down on Friday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. Mousasi was tagged in the first round, causing his right eye to swell up. Despite basically fighting with one eye, Mousasi was able to dominate for the majority of the round. However, that wasn’t the story for the remaining two rounds. The former Bellator champ put on a very competitive fight in rounds two and three, causing many to believe that Shlemenko should’ve gotten the nod from the judges and not Mousasi.
Below is how the pros in the MMA world reacted to Mousasi’s controversial decision victory:
shlemenko won that fight clearly, shame he didnt get it officially on the decision

The term “robbed” gets thrown a bit too liberally these days. No matter who you thought won it was close fight. Comes down to that 2nd round

Sorry @jimmysmithmma but Gegard wins the 2nd. Keep doing your normal phenomenal job on the Mike my friend #AskBJM

Not that I plan to need them, but you better not bring these judges to Israel @bellatormma Not even Mousasi thinks he won. #bellator185

Wow! @mousasi_mma gets the UD over @StormShlemenko (29-28, 29-28, 29-28). I thought it was a lot closer than that. #Bellator185
