A pair of big time prospect killers will do battle at UFC 218 when lightweights David Teymur and Drakkar Klose face-off Dec. 2 in Detroit, Mich. The Detroit Free Press first reported the booking Monday.
Teymur (6-1), a former contestant on The Ultimate Fighter 22, is undefeated in three UFC contests following his run on the show. The 28-year-old Swedish-born fighter picked up back-to-back second-round knockout wins over Martin Svensson and Jason Novelli in 2016, but really made a statement with his most recent performance, a unanimous decision win over highly-touted prospect Lando Vannata in March at UFC 209. Teymur is also a decorated kickboxer with over 40 kickboxing bouts to his credit.
He’ll now face Klose (8-0-1), an undefeated up-and-comer who fights out of The MMA Lab in Glendale, Ariz. The 29-year-old Michigan native announced his presence in the stacked UFC lightweight division with a hard-fought split decision victory over top prospect Marc Diakiese at The Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale in July. Prior to that, Klose picked up a dominant decision win over Devin Powell this past January at UFC Phoenix.
UFC 218 takes place at Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena. The night’s main card airs live on pay-per-view.
