The UFC announced a trio of bouts for UFC 210 on Friday, highlighted by a light heavyweight match-up between Patrick Cummins and Jan Blachowicz, as well as a compelling women’s bantamweight tilt between prospects Irene Aldana and Katlyn Chookagian.
Cummins (8-4) and Blachowicz (19-6) are both looking to rebound from recent slumps that have seen them sink to the outer edge of the UFC light heavyweight rankings.
After starting his UFC career off with a 3-1 record, the 36-year-old Cummins has lost three of his last four bouts by KO/TKO, including back-to-back stoppages at the hands of Glover Teixeira and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. He’ll look to get back on track against Blachowicz, a 33-year-old Polish veteran who also has lost three of his last four contests, falling short against Jimi Manuwa, Corey Anderson, and Alexander Gustafsson.
Likewise, both Aldana (7-3) and Chookagian (8-1) hope to climb back into the win column after suffering the first UFC defeats of their young careers.
Aldana, a 28-year-old Mexican prospect who has finished all of her professional victories, lost a three-round decision to Leslie Smith in her UFC debut in December following a sterling run under the Invicta FC banner. The 28-year-old Chookagian, meanwhile, suffered a split decision setback against Liz Carmouche at UFC 205 after upsetting Lauren Murphy in her Octagon debut.
UFC 210 takes place April 8 at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York.
Additionally, a featherweight clash between undefeated prospect Shane Burgos (8-0) and two-time ‘Fight of the Night’ winner Charles Rosa (11-2) has been scheduled for the New York event.
