Bellator prospect A.J. McKee is returning to competition this month at Bellator 171. The news was announced by the promotion on Thursday.
The 21-year-old undefeated fighter will face Brandon Phillips in a featherweight contest. This bout will be part of the main card of Bellator 171. McKee last competed at Bellator 166 in December where he extended his undefeated record to 6-0 by defeating Ray Wood.
His opponent, Phillips, is coming off a loss to Bryce Mitchell at WSOF 33 back in October. Prior to that, Phillips had a successful Bellator debut outpointing Chuka Willis at Bellator 159. Phillips is 27 years old and has a professional record of 6-2.
In addition, two other bouts were added to the event, as Jessica Middleton is set to take on Alice Yauger in a female flyweight fight also on the main card, and Gaston Reyno will fight Justin Overton in a featherweight bout in the prelims.
Bellator 171 will take place on Jan. 27 at the Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane, Kan. MMA veterans Melvin Guillard and Chidi Njokuani are scheduled to fight at an 175-pound catchweight in the main event of the card.
