Carla Esparza and Randa Markos had a budding feud on The Ultimate Fighter 20. Now, the two will finally fight.
Esparza, the former UFC women’s strawweight champion, will take on Markos at UFC Fight Night 105 on Feb. 19 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the UFC announced Tuesday. Esparza and Markos had a very memorable exchange on Fox Sports 1’s TUF Talk during the airing of TUF 20 in 2014.
Esparza (11-3), also a former Invicta champion, beat Rose Namajunas to win TUF 20 to become the first UFC women’s 115-pound champion. She lost the title to Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 185 in March 185 and needed shoulder surgery afterward. Esparza, 29, came back from injury to rebound and defeat Juliana Lima by unanimous decision at UFC 197 in April.
Markos (6-4) is coming off a first-round submission loss to Cortney Casey at UFC 202 in August. The Iraq native and Canada resident has alternated wins and losses in her UFC career. Markos, 31, owns wins over Aisling Daly and Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger.
UFC Fight Night 105 is headlined by a heavyweight fight between former champion Junior dos Santos and Stefan Struve.
