Cris Cyborg, UFC headliner.
The dominant women's MMA champion will take on UFC newcomer Lina Lansberg in the main event of UFC Fight Night 95 on Sept. 24 in Brasilia, Brazil, it was announced officially Thursday. The bout will take place at a catchweight of 140 pounds. Braziian outlet UOL previously reported the fight.
UFC Fight Night: Cyborg vs. Lansberg will air on FOX Sports 1. In the co-main event, former UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao will take on Phillipe Nover in a featherweight bout. Also on the card, Roy Nelson meets Antonio Silva in a heavyweight clash.
Cyborg (16-1, 1 NC) made her UFC debut with a first-round TKO win over Leslie Smith at UFC 198 in May. She has not lost a fight since 2005, has finished every opponent in the first round since 2013 and has not been to a decision since 2008. Cyborg, 31, is the Invicta FC women's 145-pound champion, but the UFC does not have that weight division, so she has struggled to get fights.
Lansberg (6-1) has won six straight fights since losing her pro debut to current Invicta fighter Pannie Kianzad in 2012. The Sweden native has finished four of her six victories, including the latest, a second-round TKO of Maria Hougaard Djursaa in March under the Odense Fight Night banner. Lansberg, 34, owns a win over Invicta's Laura Howarth.
Barao (33-4) is coming off a loss in his 145-pound debut against Jeremy Stephens in May. The 29-year-old has lost three of four, but two of those came in title fights against T.J. Dillashaw. Nover (11-6-1) won four in a row before dropping a split decision to Zubaira Tukhagov last December.
The UFC Fight Night 95 main card will also feature Francisco Trinaldo vs. Paul Felder, Gilbert Burns vs. Michel Prazeres and Renato Moicano vs. Mike De La Torre. On the prelims, Rani Yahya meets Michinori Tanaka, Dustin Ortiz faces Jussier Formiga, Vicente Luque faces Hector Urbina, Joaquim Silva meets newcomer Gregor Gillespie, Erick Silva takes on Brandon Thatch, Luan Chagas fights Shinsho Anzai and Alan Patrick meets Steven Ray.
