Conor McGregor, Nate Diaz take home Fight of the Night honors at UFC 202

Esther Lin, MMA Fighting

If the first fight between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz was memorable, the second fight at UFC 202 between the two went down as an instant classic. McGregor won a majority draw in the end (48-47, 47-47, 48-47), but the fight saw was a back-and-forth war of attrition in which both men showed their heart.

And, as a reward for their efforts, Diaz and McGregor took home Fight of the Night bonuses. Each received an additional $50,000.

The first eight minutes of action was all McGregor, who was picking Diaz apart on the feet and slamming his lead leg with kicks. Towards the end of the second, Diaz made his move, winning the latter stages with his volume punches. The third round was all Diaz, as McGregor looked to be fading. At one point towards the end of the round, it looked like McGregor was about to go out.

Yet in the fourth, he reestablished himself and took control of the fight. Diaz would win the last round, but McGregor had done enough to get the win.

Also receiving bonuses for Performance of the Night were Donald Cerrone, who made it three in a row as a welterweight by scoring a second-round TKO victory over Rick Story, and Anthony Johnson, who dropped Glover Teixeira with a massive uppercut just 13 seconds into the co-main event.

Each man received $50,000 as well.
