Pride FC veteran Charles Bennett is set to make his return to Japan at Rizin FF event in September. The news was announced by the promotion on Thursday.
The 36-year-old fighter is set to take on Brazilian kickboxer Minoru Kimura in a featherweight bout. This fight will be contested under MMA rules.
This will be Kimura's first fight under MMA rules. The 22-year-old fighter has been fighting in kickboxing since 2010, compiling an impressive record of 21-6-1 with 15 knockout victories. He also hold a record of 5-3 in top kickboxing promotion K-1.
Meanwhile, Bennett has actually kept busy despite flying under the radar in recent years. The Pride FC and EliteXC veteran has already fought four times in 2016, wining his last fight via first-round heel hook against Paul Rodriguez at Battleground. Bennet is currently 29-30-2 as a professional fighter, and is 3-2 in his past five bouts.
'Krazy Horse' made a name for himself with his wild fighting style and personality in the early 2000's, competing in Pride FC and King of the Cage. He also fought many notable fighters such as Takanori Gomi, Urijah Faber, K.J. Noons, Tatsuya Kawajiri, Duane Ludwig, Yoshiro Maeda, and more.
The Rizin FF World Grand Prix event takes place on Sept. 25 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. The card is set to be headlined by the kick-off of the 16-man open-weight tournament. Mirko Cro Cop and Wanderlei Silva are amongst the nine competitors that have been announced for the tournament.
