Rizin FF announces Gabi Garcia's opponent, new fights and more for GP event

Nine-time jiujitsu world champion and recently turned MMA fighter Gabi Garcia finally has an opponent for her upcoming fight at September's Rizin Fighting Federation event.

The news was announced by the promotion on Tuesday, along with other new match ups and participants of the open-weight tournament.

The undefeated Garcia is set to take on football player Destanie Yarbrough, who's 1-0 as a professional fighter. Yarbrough made her MMA debut on April at The Warriors Cage 24, defeating Crystal Parson via first-round technical knockout. Meanwhile, the 30-year-old Garcia is 2-0 in MMA, with her last fight being in April where she submitted Anna Malyukova.

Additionally, two more woman's bouts where added to the card, as three-time junior Olympic wrestling medalist Kanako Murata will take on Kyra Batara in a strawweight bout, and 25-year-old kickboxing veteran Rena Kubota will fight Olympic wrestler Miyuu Yamamoto. The weight class for Kubota vs. Yamamoto is yet to be announced.

Also, five new fighters were added to the 16-man-open-weight tournament that will develop through the course of three events. Participating in the tournament will be heavyweights Jiri Prochazka (17-3-1) and Amir Aliakbari (2-0), and light heavyweights Teodorasu Aukstuolis (9-3), Karl Albrektsson (5-0) and Valentine Moldavski (3-0). These fighters join the previously announced tournament contestants Mirko Cro Cop, Wanderlei Silva, Kazuyuki Fujita and Kaido Hoovelson.

This Rizin FF card takes place on Sept. 25 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
