Bellator 161 is starting to take shape.
Two-time champion Joe Warren will return to action on Sept. 16 to face the Swedish fighter, Sirwan Kakai, in a bantamweight battle. FloCombat was the first to report the bout, and Bellator made it official on Wednesday.
Warren will look to rebound from his first-round submission loss against Darrion Caldwell at Bellator 151 in March. Before then the "Baddest Man on the Planet" had won six of seven bouts, including a decision over Eduardo Dantas to unify the bantamweight crown. The 39-year old Warren was also the featherweight champion from 2010-2012.
Kakai is 16-fight veteran who has fought under both the UFC and Bellator banners. The 26-year-old went 1-1 in the UFC, scoring a decision victory over Danny Martinez at UFC Fight Night 70 in June 2015, before dropping a narrow split decision against Frankie Saenz in August of that same year.
Kakai, who has a nickname of "Zohan," will be looking to rebound after losing his Bellator debut against Joe Taimanglo back in March. He lost via a unanimous decision.
Bellator 161 will take place at the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park, Texas, and feature a heavyweight headlining bout between Cheick Kongo and Tony Johnson, as well Anastasia Yankova's American debut. The Russian prospect will face Veta Arteaga.
