UFC 201 salaries: Robbie Lawler banks $500,000 in defeat

Esther Lin, MMA Fighting

Welterweight headliners Robbie Lawler and Tyron Woodley led the disclosed payroll for UFC 201, each pocketing six-figures for their main event clash, according to information released Monday by the Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission.

Woodley wrested away the UFC welterweight title with a dramatic first-round knockout over Lawler at UFC 201, however it was Lawler who won the paycheck battle, earning a flat $500,000 purse while Woodley cashed $340,000 in disclosed winnings.

UFC 201 took place July 30, 2016 at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The night's main card aired live on pay-per-view.

Aside from Lawler and Woodley, only two other fighters on the card hit the six-figure mark in earnings. Welterweight veteran Jake Ellenberger pocketed $150,000 for his surprising first-round knockout win over Matt Brown, while Jorge Masvidal earned $114,000 for his undercard win over Ross Pearson.

In addition to their commission-reported salaries, Woodley, Ellenberger, Karolina Kowalkiewicz, and Rose Namajunas all took home $50,000 fight night bonuses for their performances.

A complete list of the UFC 201 salaries can be seen below. As always, these figures do not represent a fighter's total earnings, as certain sponsorship incomes, pay-per-view bonuses, or discretionary post-fight bonuses are not publicly disclosed.
