UFC 200 results: Gegard Mousasi knocks out Thiago Santos

Esther Lin, MMA Fighting

LAS VEGAS -- Thiago Santos brought a four-fight winning streak into UFC 200.

But then, he didn't fight anyone of Gegard Mousasi's caliber during that stretch.

Mousasi, the former Strikeforce and Dream light heavyweight champion, put on a clinic Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena as he finished Santos with a first-round knockout. The time of the stoppage was 4:32.

After an early feeling-out period, Mousasi dropped Santos to the mat with a shot, then worked for position from the top.

Santos (13-4) finally managed to break free and get to his feet, but he was met with a perfectly timed right hand to the jaw. Mousasi followed up with two more punches before Marc Goddard waved it off.

"I believe he's a tough guy, he doesn't have a well-recognized name but he's dangerous," Mousasi (29-6-2) said. "I believe I have the best standup in the middleweight division."

Mousasi, who was originally slated to fight Derek Brunson, has won two straight and five of six.
