Round 1: This fight...wow. Never thought we'd see this one, but here we are. Hand it to Anderson Silva taking it on short notice. Referee for this one is John McCarthy. They touch gloves. Silva circles, and Cormier stands his ground in the middle. Leg kick from Silva. High kick attempt from Cormier, and now he shoots low for a takedown, and that was incredibly easy. Cormier gets right on top of Silva, and now he's trying to posture up for some ground and pound. Sllva flirting with an armbar. Now he's keeping Cormier tight on his chest. Elbow from Cormier to Silva's temple. Now Cormier stacks him on the fence, and Cormier is postured up. Silva is all silly putty right now, and he's so far neutralizing Cormier's attack. Now Cormier lands a couple of short blunt elbows to Silva's head. Half-guard now for DC, who is still trying to create space to land. He sends a series of punches into Silva's ribcage. Another elbow. Hammerfists now. Silva can't do much to get out of this position. Cormier just using his bulk to keep Sliva flat. McCarthy warns Cormier to stay busy, and DC immediately postures back up. A lot of energy being expended by Silva on his back, which matters when you consider he didn't have a training camp. Cormier gets loose and lands a big punch on Silva, and then another elbow. Total ground and pound here from the pestle. Cormier has Silva right where he wants him. MMA Fighting scores R1 for Cormier, 10-9

Round 2: Silva bleeding out of his nose. Took some punishment in that round. A high head kick from Silva was blocked, but that got the crowd going. And DC lands a big shot, too. Now he grabs a leg and throws Silva down, and the crowd lets out a thunderous boo. Half-guard, and he goes right back to work. Silva once again trying to minimize the damage, just shifting DC's weight into less threatening positions. DC trying to find room again, and he's dropping hammerfists. It's like the Sonnen fight at UFC 117, except Cormier is a much larger animal, and Silva came in on short notice (and therefore has suspect cardio). Cormier is just grounding Silva into a powder here. Silva trying to sweep, but that's a crazy task. Silva looking to find a limb that he might do something with, but Cormier is too much. Now McCarthy stands them up, and the crowd roars. Silva is wobbly, though, doesn't have a ton in his tank. Superman punch from Silva, and that misses. Cormier though lands a night punch on the fence. Knee from Silva lands. And for a moment Silva's Matrix movement comes into play, as Cormier throws two errant punches. Now he smartens up and pushes Silva into the fence. The crowd doesn't like it. They end on the fence at an impasse. MMA Fighting scores R2 for Cormier, 10-9 (20-18 overall)

Round 3: Silva has made it this far. And they hug before the final round. Silva trying to get something going, a series of punches and then a kick. Right hand from Cormier lands big. Silva lands a couple of nice punches, and then scoops up Silva's body and slams him down. Here we go again. Cormier again leaning his entire belly into Silva, just smothering one of the greatest the game has known. Anderson trying to hold onto Cormier, and the crowd starts a "Stand Them Up" chant. McCarthy looms, but Cormier is trying to stay busy. Now he stands them up, and the place again lets out a roar. They feint and look at each other, but both slow to engage. Cormier with a low-high combo. Silva is tired. He tries a jab. Leg kick from Cormier. Silva looking to land a big one inside of a minute to go. Left hand from Silva, and then a kick to the body that hurts him! But as he comes in for a flurry, Cormier grabs him and pushes him to fence. He put out a potential fire as the round ends. MMA Fighting scores R3 for Cormier, 10-9 (30-27 overall for Cormier)

UFC 200 official results: Daniel Cormier def. Anderson Silva via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-26)
