Round 1: Alright, main card time. Gold canvas. Color on the Reebok trunks. And UFC's christening of the T-Mobile Arena. First up is a heavyweight clash between former champion Cain Velasquez, coming off the most disappointing fight of his career, against Travis Browne. Referee for this one is John McCarthy. Velasquez quickly to center, and a big right hand from Browne right off. Wow. Cain just took it, and now he comes ahead and lands a couple wild ones on the fence, as Browne rolls out. Browne circling, and Cain pursuing. Knee to the body from Browne, and now a single leg attempt by Velasquez. Can't get it, but bullies Browne to the fence, and goes to work there. Knees to the thighs. Now, with his head tucked under Browne's chin, a couple of heavy lefts. They break, and back to center. Leg kick by Cain and Browne whiffs on a big right hand. Couple of jabs from Velasquez, and is moving forward regularly. He's getting that jab in there to initiate his combos. And he lands a nice one there, as he again presses Browne into the fence. Can't get much going there and, as they break, lands a huge wheel kick in the center! Wow Big shots from Cain, and Browne on the floor. Now Cain jumps on him, and he's trying to deploy some fists, but Browne flails free and snugs him close. Still, Cain gets his right hand untangled and lands big shots into Browne's temple. They are on fence, and Browne still on floor, now scrambling to get up. Cain says no. Holds him there, a captive. Browne again stands, and he's wearing Velasquez on his midsection. Finally he breaks free and lands a big punch. Velasquez missed on a wheel kick, and they exchange. Velasquez ducks under punch and pushes Browne back down...he's dropping huge shots on Browne, and with just seconds left McCarthy steps in! Cain is back! What a great performance by the former heavyweight champion. Just took it too Browne the whole way, looking like his vintage self.
