UFC on FOX 20 bonuses: Felice Herrig earns $50,000 for submission win over Kailin Curran

Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

In her return to MMA competition, Felice Herrig earned an extra $50,000 in a Performance of the Night bonus at UFC on FOX 20.

Herrig, who hadn't competed inside the octagon in over a year, made an impressive return, submitting strawweight prospect Kailin Curran to open up the main card on FOX. The 31-year-old fighter looked sharp against Curran, showcasing her grappling by taking Curran's back and sinking in a rear-naked choke in just two minutes into the fight.

Additionally, former WEC bantamweight champion Eddie Wineland took home the other Performance of the Night bonus. Wineland had a back-and-fourth battle with Frankie Saenz in the final fight of the preliminary card. The 32-year-old fighter had a vintage performance, defeating Saenz via technical knockout in the third round. With this victory, Wineland earned his first professional win since January 2014.

In the UFC Fight Pass portion of the card, Jason Knight and Jim Alers took home the Fight of the Night bonus. Both featherweights battled to a split decision that had Knight taking home the victory. Knight picked up his first UFC win after dropping a decision to veteran Tatsuya Kawajiri in his UFC debut. Meanwhile, Alers is now 0-2 and one no-contest in his past three trips to the octagon.
