Francis Ngannou’s rampage up the heavyweight ranks continues apace.
The 29-year-old Cameroon native and Paris resident didn't need much time to dispense of Serbia's Bojan Mihajlovic on Saturday night at UFC on FOX 20. Referee Herb Dean waved off the bout at Chicago's United Center at just 1:34 of the first round.
Mihajlovic (10-4) took a 10-fight win streak into his UFC debut. But Ngannou dropped him with a wicked body shot. He then landed several hammerfists before Mihajlovic covered up.
While there was some question as to whether the stoppage came early, the reply made it clear Mihajlovic was flashed KOd by one hammerfist and brought back by the next.
With the win, Ngannou improved to 7-0, all via finish, and 3-0 in the UFC, all via knockout.
"I will back up what I say," Nganou said. "I will be champion, I guarantee I will be champion."
