Ray Borg is out of UFC 201 citing injury. Now, fellow UFC flyweight Ryan Benoit will be stepping in on short notice to fight Fredy Serrano. The news was first reported by Combat Press on Thursday and was later confirmed by MMA Fighting.
Benoit (8-4) hasn't fought since UFC 193 in November where he lost to Ben Nguyen via rear-naked choke. The 26-year-old fighter is 1-2 in the UFC with his only win being over Sergio Pettis at UFC 185.
Meanwhile, the 36-year-old Serrano (3-0) is coming off a technical knockout victory over Yao Zhikui at UFC Fight Night 79 back in November. Prior to that, the Colombian Olympic wrestler made a successful UFC debut, knocking out Bentley Syler in March 2015.
UFC 201 takes place on July 30 at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Robbie Lawler is scheduled to defend his welterweight title against Tyron Woodley in the main event of the card.
