Robbie Lawler doesn't believe Georges St-Pierre will ever return to the UFC

LOS ANGELES -- At one point in the runup to last weekend's UFC 200, rumors swirled that former longtime UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre would return from his self-imposed exile to headline the mega-card in Las Vegas.

But if there was ever a plan for St-Pierre to come back and face the current titleholder, Robbie Lawler, they never ran the idea past him.

"Nope," Lawler said Tuesday. "They never asked me."

St-Pierre was a two-time 170-pound champion, with the last title reign lasting five years and eight months before he voluntarily relinquished it in Dec. 2013.

Now two-and-a-half years into his sabbatical, the clock is running on the 35-year-old St-Pierre's window for a potential return, andhe recently indicated his desire to return to the sport.

But Lawler, who won the title from Johnny Hendricks in Dec. 2014 and will make his third title defense against Tyron Woodley at UFC 201, isn't convinced we'll see the man most regard as the greatest welterweight of all-time ever fight again.

"I don't think he's coming back," Lawler said.
