Lorenz Larkin will have an unexpected chance to fight a top-10 opponent next month, as Larkin has agreed to step in on short notice and fight welterweight contender Neil Magny on Aug. 20 at UFC 202.

The Los Angeles Daily News first reported the bout Wednesday. Magny's original opponent, Dong Hyun Kim, withdrew due to injury.

The opportunity comes at a perfect time for Larkin (17-5, 1 NC), who scored the biggest victory of his UFC career with a split decision over Jorge Masvidal in May. The win pushed Larkin's record to 3-1 since moving down to welterweight, a run also highlighted by bonus-winning knockouts over John Howard and Santiago Ponzinibbio.

Mangy (18-4), meanwhile, has won an astounding 10 of his last 11 fights, including a current three-fight win streak that counts victories over Erick Silva, Kelvin Gastelum, and Hector Lombard. He is currently the No. 7 ranked welterweight on the UFC's media-generated rankings.

UFC 202 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor takes on Nate Diaz in a rematch in the night's main event.
