Esther Lin, MMA Fighting

Urijah Faber isn't wasting much time getting back in the Octagon.

"The California Kid" will meet Jimmie Rivera at UFC 203 on Sept. 10 in Cleveland, it was announced Tuesday during the UFC Fight Night: McDonald vs. Lineker weigh-in show.

The bout was first reported as Faber vs. Francisco Rivera on the show, but then corrected afterward.

Faber (33-9) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz at UFC 199 last month. "The California Kid" has won three of his last five fights overall. Faber, 37, is one of the best and most popular lighter weight fighters in the history of MMA and a former WEC featherweight champion.

Rivera (19-1) is one of the most promising bantamweight prospects in the world. The New Jersey native has not lost since 2008 under the Ring of Combat banner. Rivera, 27, has beaten Iuri Alcantara, Pedro Munhoz and Marcus Brimage in the UFC. The bout with Alcantara was the Fight of the Night at UFC on FOX 18 in January.

UFC 203 is headlined by a heavyweight title fight between champion Stipe Miocic and challenger Alistair Overeem. In the co-main event, former champ Fabricio Werdum takes on Ben Rothwell. Also on the card, CM Punk will make his UFC debut against Mickey Gall.
