The UFC has announced a pair of new match-up for its return to Germany on Sept. 3, and Emil Meek is one of the names added to the card. Meek is scheduled to make his UFC debut against fellow UFC newcomer Jessin Ayari. Also in the welterweight division, Peter Sobotta takes on Nicolas Dalby.
Meek (8-2) shocked the MMA world in May, scoring a devastating first-round knockout over UFC veteran and former WSOF welterweight champion Rousimar Palhares at Venator FC 3. Germany’s Ayari (15-3) enters the Octagon following six straight wins in Europe, including three finishes.
Sobotta (15-5-1) and Dalby (14-1-1) both look for redemption after suffering their first UFC losses. Sobotta had a 2-0 start in the promotion while fighting in his home country, but lost to Kyle Noke last November. Dalby defeated Elizeu Zaleski in his debut last May, before fighting to a draw with Darren Till and losing a decision to Zak Cummings.
UFC’s first trip to Hamburg, Germany, is scheduled for Sept. 3 at the Barclaycard Arena. In the main event, Andrei Arlovski and Josh Barnett battle in a clash of former heavyweight champions.
