Originally scheduled to face former welterweight champion Douglas Lima at Bellator 156, Chidi Njokuani will now meet The Ultimate Fighter Brazil veteran Thiago Goncalves in the co-main event spot on June 17, MMA Fighting has learned with sources close to the situation. Lima takes on Paul Daley at Bellator 158.
Goncalves (18-4) makes his promotional debut a year after defeating Matt Baker at WSOF 21. "Jambo", who won six of his last seven fights, was originally booked against Ricky Rainey in the Bellator 156 prelims.
Njokuani (14-4), who defeated Rainey via decision in his first appearance under the Bellator banner, enters the fight riding a six-fight undefeated streak, which includes a win over Gilbert Smith for the RFA welterweight title in 2015.
Bellator 156 takes place at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif., and features a rematch between Marcos Galvao and Eduardo Dantas for the 135-pound title in the main event.
