The UFC has inked a deal with flyweight prospect Poliana Botelho, the Nova Uniao fighter announced Tuesday.
Botelho, 27, holds a 5-1 record with five knockout victories, capped off by a win over Silvana Gomez that earned her the XFC International flyweight championship last September. Sources close to the fighter told MMA Fighting that Botelho will cut down to 115 pounds to fight in the UFC.
"Today I’m climbing another step in my career to achieve my biggest goal," Botelho posted on her Facebook page. "I have no word to describe my happiness in becoming a UFC athlete."
Botelho spent weeks in the United States earlier this year, helping Miesha Tate prepare for her bantamweight title fight with Holly Holm. Back in Rio de Janeiro, Botelho trains with strawweight title contender Claudia Gadelha, who faces Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the UFC belt on July 8.
