Alex Caceres has stepped up to replace B.J. Penn, and will now face Cole Miller in a featherweight bout at UFC 199. The news was first reported by Fox Sports, and was then confirmed by UFC officials on Wednesday.
Caceres (11-8) serves as a late replacement for Penn, who was pulled from the card on Monday following a potential anti-doping policy violation. "Bruce Leeroy" will now have a little over a week to prepare for Miller. Caceres last fought in January at UFC on Fox 18 where he successfully made his return to the featherweight division by outpointing Masio Fullen. Prior to that, The Ultimate Fighter Season 12 cast member was on a three-fight losing streak in the bantamweight division.
Miller (21-9-1 NC) was also a late replacement, as he stepped in for an injured Denis Siver to fight Penn earlier this month. Miller's last trip to the octagon was against Jim Alers at UFC on Fox 17 in December. That fight was declared a no contest after Miller suffered an eye poke that didn't allow him to continue the fight.
UFC 199 takes place at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. on June 4, 2016. Luke Rockhold is expected to defend his middleweight title against Michael Bisping in the main event of the card.
