Big names are making big news in the sport. Former welterweight and lightweight champion BJ Penn has been notified of a potential violation by USADA for using an IV. The circumstances behind it remain unclear, which means it's not altogether obvious he committed a true anti-doping infraction. However, it's not surprising fighters who didn't have a hand in helping to make the rules set are unfamiliar with the rules themselves.
Conor McGregor also made an appearance on ESPN this week. The Irish champion discussed the "potential" Floyd Mayweather, Jr. fight, his relationship with the UFC and more. We'll talk about what his statements mean.
There's also a UFC event this weekend as Thomas Almeida and Cody Garbrandt headline a show in Las Vegas. We'll preview that fight card and more.
