Paige VanZant lands perfect score with emotional performance on ‘Dancing on with the Stars’

If Paige VanZant had any concerns about her confidence, they were wiped out on Monday night.

The UFC strawweight contender and partner Mark Ballas owned their latest routine on ‘Dancing with the Stars,' landing the season's second perfect score with a flawless rendition of ‘Proud Mary' by Tina Tuner. Dancing in the style of jive, VanZant and Ballas' choreography was frenetic and put team #PowRightInTheKisser tied for first place on the night with score of 30 out of 30.

The performance came a week after VanZant barely avoided elimination.

In the pre-dance video package, VanZant grew emotional discussing the confidence problems that have plagued her throughout her athletic career. Those issues all but vanished under the bright lights though, as VanZant and Ballas blew away the judges and earned a standing ovation with a routine that ended with VanZant and Ballas trading cartwheels.

If Monday was any indication, VanZant remains one of the favorites to win this season of ‘Dancing with the Stars.' She followed up her first performance with a stellar showing in the men vs. women team competition dancing for Team Beyoncé.

VanZant, 22, is one of the rising stars of the UFC strawweight division. She holds a 6-2 professional MMA record and has won three of her four fights inside the UFC Octagon. She lost to Rose Namajunas via fifth-round rear-naked choke in her most recent outing this past December.
