Sergio Moraes gets new opponent for UFC 198

An undisclosed injury has forced another change at UFC 198.

Initially scheduled to take on Kamaru Usman at May 14’s event in Curitiba, Brazil, jiu-jitsu specialist Sergio Moraes will now face 22-year-old Luan Chagas, the promotion announced Monday.

Chagas (14-1), who trains at Curitiba’s Gile Ribeiro team, makes his Octagon debut after racking up nine straight stoppage victories on the Brazilian circuit. Moraes (10-2) looks for his fifth consecutive win in the UFC after beating the likes of Neil Magny and Omari Akhmedov.

UFC 198 takes place at the sold out 45,000-seat Arena da Baixada soccer stadium, and features Fabricio Werdum vs. Stipe Miocic for the heavyweight title in the main event. Demian Maia vs. Matt Brown will headline the Fox Sports 1 portion of the prelims, and Patrick Cummins vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira is the feature bout on Fight Pass.
