Round 1: Referee in charge of the action is Mario Yamasaki. Maia is southpaw, Brown is hands down and orthodox. And just like that, Maia shoots on a single, pushes Brown back to the cage and is trying to take the back. Eventually he does and now Brown is backpacking him. Maia drags him to the canvas and now has the body triangle. The body triangle is off and then back on. Brown tries to stand and is nearly choked, so he sits and tries to hand fight. Maia attempts an armbar, but Brown uses wrist control to force him to guard.

Round 3: Two terrible shots from Maia and he eats a punch that looks like he's hurt. He forces Brown to the fence and pulls him into mount where he goes for a deep half guard sweep. He uses this to reverse position, move to mount and as Brown defends, take the back again. After a prolonged hand fighting battle, Maia sneaks a rear naked choke on and forces Brown to tap.
