UFC 198 live blog: Jacare Souza vs. Vitor Belfort

This is the UFC 198 live blog for Jacare Souza vs. Vitor Belfort, a middleweight bout at Saturday night's UFC event at the Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Brazil.

Souza, who has won four of his past five fights, will face Belfort, who has won three of his past five fights, on the main card.

Round 1: Not many Brazilians fighting Brazilians tonight, but here we go. Jacare trying to rebound from that loss against Romero. The 39-year old Belfort rocking a new look (beard). Referee for this fight is Osiris Maia. They touch gloves. Jacare to center, and Belfort rolling. Body kick from Jacare to get us rolling. Vitor comes in with flying knee (half-hearted) and Jacare bats him back. Jacare changes levels and tries for takedown; can't get it. Jacare doing some manhandling on the fence, but Vitor shrugs him aside. Very nice. Again Belfort with a flying knee feint. Now Jacare grabs an ankle, and spins Vitor down. Bad news for Belfort to be on his back here. Jacare immediately trying to posture up, and he's leaning his forearm into Belfort's chin. Big right hands now, and a couple of those get through to Belfort's chin. Already Belfort pouring blood from his face. Referee sees it and asks Jacare to get up and let him take a look. Bridge of the nose maybe? They say there's no blood in the eye, as they squeegee the blood off his face. Now they reposition and we continue. Jacare immediately passes guard, and Vitor scrambles. He's back up! That was huge. Jacare stays on him along fence, and they clinch. Jacare selling out for a takedown, and Belfort opts to pull guard. He tries to slam an upkick, misses, and Jacare postures up and starts wailing. Big right hands. Belfort trying to survive. Full mount now. Not good, as Belfort turtles up. Belfort covering up, not fighting back, and it's over. Damn. Jacare was vicious there. Finishes Belfort with a barrage of big shots from mount.
