This is the UFC 198 undercard blog for the UFC 197 event at the Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Brazil on Saturday night.

There will be seven fights on the UFC 198 undercard. Demian Maia vs. Matt Brown, Thiago Santos vs. Nate Marquardt, Francisco Trinaldo vs. Yancy Medeiros, John Lineker vs. Rob Font, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Patrick Cummins, Sergio Moraes vs. Luan Chagas, and Renato Moicano vs. Zubaira Tukhugov will be featured.

Renato Moicano vs. Zubaira Tukhugov

Round 1: Eduardo Herdy is the referee. Both fighters open orthodox. Tukhugov is bouncing while Moicano is a bit more flat footed. Moicano lands a leg kick, but catches a kick and pushes the Brazilian to the ground, but can't do much with it and they separate. Leaping left hook scores for Tukuhgov. Moicano again falls backwards and Tukhugov follows him there with Moicano going to rubber guard control. Moicano gets close to framing up a triangle, but it's not quite there. Moicano lets it go and scores an upkick. Tukhugov can't launch a flying attack on top and ends up nearly getting his back taken, but scrambles out.

Round 2: Two lunging left hooks land for Tukhugov, but he eats a leg kick twice for his efforts. Both fighters swing wildly and miss. Tukhugov eats a groin kick, but the referee says fight on. He then rips a body shot and overhand right. Tukhugov shoots a low single, but abandons it when it's stuffed on the front head lock. The Russian throws a spinning back fist, but it doesn't work. Short right hand sneaks through for Moicano in a wild exchange. Good outside-inside leg kick combo scores for the Brazilian.

Round 3:
Moicano gets dragged to the mat with a misdirection trip, but Moicano pops right back up. Two-punch combo from Tukhugov backs up Moicano, but eats a right for his efforts. Tukhugov attempts a double on a corner, but can't seal it. Moicano is bleeding out of the corner of his left eye. Great job from Moicano pops the Russian's head back. They stop the fight temporarily to check the cut, but the fight resumes. Tukhugov's left hook finds the mark and while he lands a takedown, Moicano never concedes and stands back up. Head kick without much authority slaps Tukhugov and the Russian shoots another low single, but can't secure it.

Sergio Moraes vs. Luan Chagas

Round 1: Osiris Maia is the referee in charge. Chagas barrels forward and they clinch along the fence, but they separate and are back to striking. Chagas is backing Moraes up, but whiffing on a lot of big strikes. Moraes shoots as Chagas moves forward, but it stuffed. Moraes with a nice rear-hand uppercut. Moraes again changing levels, but can't get it, but does score with a right hand. Two hard outside leg kicks score for Chagas, but Moraes responds with one of his own. Chagas drops Moraes with a monster head kick, but won't follow him to the ground. Someone Moraes is alright, at least seems so. Straight left drops Moraes again, but Chagas won't follow him down.

Round 2: Moraes opens the frame tagging with Chagas with a left and a right and taking a more forward position. Chagas slowing down a little, but still throwing flurries. Moraes pressures Chagas to the fence, but Chagas creates separation. Moraes jumps guillotine, but can't quite get it. Moraes locks up Chagas's right arm, but the referee stands them up. Moraes tries to score a single leg, but Chagas gets behind him. Moraes forward rolls and Chagas nearly takes his back, but Moraes shucks him off and ends up on top.

Round 3:
Moraes pressuring Chagas right away and scores a nice knee up the middle. Chagas tries to stop a takedown, but turtles and it sent to the mat. Moraes tries to pass, but Chagas keeps good guard retention. Moraes stands for a bit, but gets back into Chagas' guard. Moraes slowly hits an instep pass from half guard to side. Chagas somehow gets to turtle and even attempts a kneebar, but Moraes ends up taking his back. With ten seconds left in the round, Chagas shucks Moraes off and ends up on top.

Sergio Moraes vs. Luan Chagas declared a split draw (29-28, 28-29, 28-28)

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Patrick Cummins

Round 1: Leon Roberts is the referee. Nogueira is southpaw while Cummins is orthodox. Cummins shoots and it's stuffed, but Cummins scores a knee on the way out. Good left from Nogueira finds the mark. Nogueira is flashing the jab, but it's not landing so far. Cummins gets rocked by a series of punches, so he presses the Brazilian against the fence. The takedown is defended and Cummins gets back to peppering Noguerira's leg. Right hook from Nogueira drills Cummins and the American is badly hurt. He's getting beat on and tries to shoot. Nogueira is pouring on the offense and the referee finally stops it.

John Lineker vs. Rob Font

Round 1: The referee in charge of the action is Kevin MacDonald. Both fighters open orthodox. Font throws a series of probing kicks, but Lineker connects with a two-punch combo. Font connects with a jab and pops Lineker's head back. Hard outside leg kick scores for Font. Lineker doing all the stalking here and kicks Font off of his feet, but Font stands up quickly. Font attempts a shot and is reversed, but stands after playing a bit of guard. Hard body shot from Lineker. Font scores with a nice knee in the clinch.

Round 2: Leaping left hook from Lineker grazes Font's chin. Lineker scoring a bit to the outside lead leg. Font trying to go to his jab, but it's landing only a little. Good outside leg kick scores now for the American. Lineker is charging forward relentlessly with winging punches and he actually eats an uppercut. Lineker shoots and Font stuffs it. Font times a beautiful double, but Lineker stuffs it in an excellent scramble. Lineker scores an outside leg kick, but Font responds with a hook kick. Much closer round.

Round 3:
Lineker is first with an outside leg kick. Font is pumping the jab, but it's not slowing Lineker down. Leaping lead-hand uppercut scores for Font now, but Lineker is still stalking. Two good left hooks score for the Brazilian. Font tries to escape pressure and slips, Lineker gets on top and starts raining hammers. Font finds a way to stand from knee shield and they're back to striking. Font lands a kick, but falls to his back and Lineker follows him down. Lineker now passes to side control, but Font stands. Font eats a punch and Lineker follows him to the ground. Lineker nearly sits for a guillotine, but decides against it before the final bell.

Francisco Trinaldo vs. Yancy Medeiros

Round 1: Dan Miragliotta is the referee. Trinaldo gets behind Medeiros and tries a slam, but it's blocked. Now the Brazilian is pressing Medeiros into the cage. Medeiros turns him and tries for a takedown against the cage, only to be reversed again. They're both struggling for position, but then they finally separate on their own. Left hand scores for Trinaldo. Trinaldo is letting his hands go more and landing a series of lefts. Medeiros survives what can only be described as an onslaught from the Brazilian. Massive finish to the round.

Round 2: Medeiros with some activity early, but eats a right hand counter. Trinaldo goes right back to battering Medeiros with a left-right combo. Body kick and left hand score for Trinaldo. Medeiros shoots, but Trinaldo controls him from a front head lock. Trinaldo lands a series of huge punches, but somehow Medeiros is still standing. Left hand to the body scores again for the Brazilian. Spinning back kick misses, but Medeiros lands a right that drops Trinaldo just before the final bell.

Round 3:
Medeiros is pressing forward, but Trinaldo is throwing and moving, landing a hard inside leg kick. Medeiros catches the kick and yanks it forward as he lands a body shot. Hard body shot scores now for both fighters. Hard body kick scores now for Trinaldo. Left overhand rocks Medeiros and then more and more and more lefts and finally Medeiros collapses to the canvas. From there it's hard to describe. It's two straight minutes of a sustained beating. Trinaldo misses on a lot of shots, but mostly connects on brutal shot after brutal shot. It goes the distance despite obviously qualifying for a stoppage.

Francisco Trinaldo def. Yancy Medeiros via unanimous decision (29-26, 30-37, 30-26)

Thiago Santos vs. Nate Marquardt

Round 1: Santos is stalking right away and switching stances. He starts the round landing a leg kick. Spinning heel kick misses, but a body kick from the Brazilian lands cleanly. Good inside leg kick scores for the American. The two are trading leg kicks now with neither getting much of an advantage. Left hand on the inside drops Marquardt. The Brazilian is on top, but the American stands and they separate. Thiago Santos backs up, uses kicks to the body with punches to the head in quick succession to drop Marquardt face first. Referee stops it there.

Demian Maia vs. Matt Brown

Round 1: Referee in charge of the action is Mario Yamasaki. Maia is southpaw, Brown is hands down and orthodox. And just like that, Maia shoots on a single, pushes Brown back to the cage and is trying to take the back. Eventually he does and now Brown is backpacking him. Maia drags him to the canvas and now has the body triangle. The body triangle is off and then back on. Brown tries to stand and is nearly choked, so he sits and tries to hand fight. Maia attempts an armbar, but Brown uses wrist control to force him to guard.

Round 2: Maia shoots and is stuffed, but shoots moments later, captures a single and then trips Brown to the canvas. Immediately Maia is on his back. Maia yanks him to the canvas and locks up the body triangle. He keeps position there and holds him for the entirety of the round.

Round 3: Two terrible shots from Maia and he eats a punch that looks like he's hurt. He forces Brown to the fence and pulls him into mount where he goes for a deep half guard sweep. He uses this to reverse position, move to mount and as Brown defends, take the back again. After a prolonged hand fighting battle, Maia sneaks a rear naked choke on and forces Brown to tap.
