Dana White and Conor McGregor seem to be ready to kiss and make up.
After a messy series of events in recent weeks, the UFC president said he'll sit down for dinner next week with his biggest financial draw to chat.
"Conor and I have been talking every day," White said on "The Dan Patrick Show" on Wednesday. "We're gonna have dinner next week. Our relationship is great. We're gonna put the little speed bump in the road behind us and move forward. Everything is great."
White said McGregor is still not going to be fighting at UFC 200, but when they meet for dinner there will be a discussion when he will fight again. It seems like, from what White said, that Diaz will still be his opponent.
When Patrick asked about the fight being at UFC 202 in August, White replied, "sounds like a good idea to me."
"McGregor is ready to fight on 200," White added. "The thing that has made Conor McGregor a massive star and why people love him is this kid loves to fight. He'll fight anybody, anywhere, any time. He goes in and goes for broke. His fights are exciting and fun, leading up to them, during them and after them. McGregor is ready to fight."
White did clarify that nothing was official for a Diaz-McGregor rematch at UFC 202.
Last month, McGregor tweeted vaguely about retiring young. A few hours later, White went on ESPN and explained that McGregor had been pulled from the fight against Diaz at UFC 200, because he did not want to fly to Las Vegas to fulfill media obligations. McGregor said in a statement a day later that he preferred to focus on his training, do one stop of a media tour and then more promotion later on.
The statement didn't help and White doubled down that he would not fight at UFC 200. A few days later, McGregor tweeted that he was back on the card, which ended up not being true.
The new UFC 200 main event will pit light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier against rival Jon Jones.
