Mehdi Baghdad set to face John Makdessi at UFC 199 in Los Angeles

Looking to rebound from his short-notice UFC debut loss against Chris Wade, France's Mehdi Baghdad is set to make his return to the Octagon.

On Friday, the UFC announced that Baghdad (11-3) will face veteran John Makdessi in a lightweight bout at UFC 199, which is set to take place at the Forum in Inglewood, Calif., on June 4.

The 30-year-old Baghdad -- who was a member of the Ultimate Fighter 22 cast -- was submitted in the first round against Wade at UFC Fight Night 81 back in January. Before that he had won seven straight fights, all via finishes.

Montreal's Makdessi (13-5) will be looking to bounce back after suffering consecutive losses against Donald Cerrone and Yancy Medeiros. Overall the 30-year-old Makdessi has gone 6-5 in the Octagon dating back to his debut at UFC 124 in 2010. That night he scored a decision over Pat Audinwood.

In the course of his career, Makdessi has scored victories over Daron Cruickshank, Kyle Watson and Sam Stout.

The UFC 199 pay-per-view will feature two title fights, including a middleweight title rematch between Luke Rockhold and Chris Weidman. Dominick Cruz will also defend the bantamweight title against his nemesis Urijah Faber in the co-main event.
