UFC 197 results: Sergio Pettis cruises to win over Chris Kelades

Esther Lin, MMA Fighting

LAS VEGAS -- Sergio Pettis got the ball rolling as the opening act to his older brother.

Saturday night, Sergio and Anthony Pettis were both on the same card for the first time since the duo both competed, and lost, at UFC 185 last year.

But this time, the younger Pettis got things off on the right foot, as the Milwaukee flyweight scored a unanimous decision over Canada's Chris Kelades in the featured prelim bout of UFC 197 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The judges scores were 30-27 across the board.

Kelades attempted to push forward and dictate the pace against the 22-year-old Pettis in the early going, but it backfired, as Pettis dropped him to the mat and took top control.

In the second round, Kelades managed to get top position, but Pettis swept his way out of it and regained control of the round, dominating the action in both the standup and on the mat.

The final round saw Kelades once again try to push the pace, but Pettis frustrated him with yet another takedown and strong clinch work when they got back to their feet.

Pettis improved to 14-2 with his eighth career decision victory and has taken four out of his past five fights. Kelades (9-3) has dropped two out of his past three bouts.
