Paige VanZant rocks rumba with new partner on 'Dancing With The Stars'

Her scores were down, but Paige VanZant remains a top contender to win the season.

The UFC strawweight star put on a solid showing Monday night on "Dancing With The Stars" with a rumba performance in tandem with swapped partner Sasha Farber. VanZant and Farber danced to One Direction's "Perfect." It was partner switch night, so VanZant was without Mark Ballas, the other half of Team #PowRightInThe Kisser.

No eliminations were made Monday.

In the scoring column, VanZant received three 8s and one 7 for a total of 31 out of 40. That's down from last episode's 36, good enough for a tie of first, for VanZant and Ballas' take on "Toy Story" during Disney Week.

The lone 7 was given to her by guest judge and former "DWTS" dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who objected because the dance was not enough of a rumba. Chmerkovskiy was very complimentary of VanZant individually, though.

"You are more than capable of winning the show, in my mind," Chmerkovskiy said.

VanZant, 22, is one of the most popular women's strawweight fighters in the world and among the best as well. The Team Alpha Male product has a background in dancing, modeling and acting before she began training in mixed martial arts as a teen.
