Dana White: Robbie Lawler vs. Tyron Woodley ‘more than likely’ for UFC 201 or UFC 202

Robbie Lawler defended the UFC welterweight championship in a thrilling contest with Carlos Condit in January, and is expected to return to the Octagon at UFC 201 or UFC 202.

The UFC hasn’t officially announced dates and locations for both pay-per-view events, but UFC president Dana White revealed during Friday’s edition of RFA 37, while speaking with AXS TV broadcasters, that Lawler wanted to defend his belt at UFC 200 on July 9, but will likely be in one of the next cards.

"He's terrorizing me for UFC 200 like every fighter is right now," White said, "but Robbie is going to fight at either 201 or 202."

Lawler racked up an 8-1 record since returning to the UFC in 2013, defeating the likes of Rory MacDonald (twice), Johny Hendricks, Matt Brown and Condit, and he will likely get a fresh match-up when he returns.

"I don't know who yet," White said of Lawler’s opponent, "but more than likely going to be [Tyron] Woodley."

Woodley (15-3), a former Strikeforce welterweight title contender, hasn’t fought since January 2015, when he defeated Kelvin Gastelum. The American Top Team product was slated to meet Johny Hendricks last October, but the former champion was removed from UFC 192 due to weight cut issues. Woodley currently holds a 5-2 UFC record with wins over Gastelum, Dong Hyun Kim, Condit, Josh Koscheck and Jay Hieron.
