Invicta FC 17 already had a main event: Tonya Evinger vs. Colleen Schneider for Evinger's bantamweight title.
Now the event has a home. Invicta announced Thursday the card will be held at The Hangar at the OC Fair and Event Center in Costa Mesa, Calif. on May 7.
The 34-year-old Evinger (16-6) has been fighting professionally since 2006 and is on the hottest run of her career. The Houston native has won eight straight fights, including all five of her Invicta matchups, and is making the second defense of her title.
Schneider (10-6), meanwhile, has been a study in the power of persistence. The Fullerton, Calif. resident shook off a 1-4 start to her career and has won nine of her past 11 fights. She's won four fights in a row in four different promotions in four different countries to get to her title shot.
This marks the second Invicta event of the year in Orange County; Cyborg Justino defeated Daria Ibragimova in the main event of Invicta 15 in the same venue in January.
"When we brought Invicta to The Hangar in January, the house was packed and every single athlete on the card delivered, six out of the seven fights were finished," said Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp. "Now we're coming back in May and you can bet that we're stacking the card again for the fans in Orange County who showed us so much love last time."
