UFC 200 is getting a little dose of "Super" Sage.
Sage Northcutt will take on Enrique Marin on the megacard July 9 in Las Vegas, it was reported Thursday by GQ Magazine. UFC vice president of public relations Dave Sholler confirmed the bout on Twitter. The bout will be contested at lightweight.
Northcutt (7-1) has not fought since losing via second-round submission to Bryan Barberena at UFC on FOX 18 in January. The top prospect said he was sick all week for that fight, which could have led to a diminished performance. Northcutt, 20, won his first two fights in the UFC via finish. He was discovered by UFC president Dana White last year on his "Lookin' for a Fight" show on UFC Fight Pass and given a major push by the promotion.
Marin (8-3), an Ultimate Fighter Latin America 2 alum, lost by split decision in his UFC debut to Erick Montano in November. The Spain native had won six in a row coming in. Marin, 30, nicknamed "Wasabi," is a professor in his native country.
UFC 200 will be headlined by a rematch between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor. An interim featherweight title fight between Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar was announced Wednesday. There will be more bouts revealed in the coming days and weeks, including perhaps another title fight.
