Morning Report: Matt Brown, Tyron Woodley get into Twitter war over Conor McGregor's welterweight contendership

Conor McGregor might be holding the UFC featherweight division "hostage" but he's also causing turmoil at 170 pounds.

McGregor moves up to welterweight to face lightweight contender Nate Diaz March 5 at UFC 196, but he's already got serious plans for the division. If McGregor can top Diaz Saturday night in Las Vegas, he wants to challenge welterweight champ Robbie Lawler at UFC 200 in July.

Welterweight contender Matt Brown doesn't hate the idea one bit. He actually endorses it.

"I can understand [UFC] giving it to Conor," Brown said on the Great MMA Debate podcast. "He's the money man. That makes sense. (Tyron) Woodley, he shouldn't even be getting a title shot. This guy, he beat Kelvin Gastelum and he didn't even beat Carlos Condit. His last fight was Gastelum. That's a f***ing joke. He's just a business man. Just trying to play the business and not actually fight and earn it like other people are.

"If Conor beats Nate, there's no reason he shouldn't be able to fight for whatever title he wants. He's the money man."

Well, that didn't sit right with Woodley, who's been sitting out waiting for a "promised" title shot with Lawler since his split decision win over Gastelum at UFC 183 in January of 2015.
