Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones turned himself into police Tuesday morning following his latest run-in with the Albuquerque Police Department.
The arrest stemmed from a probation violation due to a controversial incident last week which saw the pound-for-pound great receive five traffic tickets, including one for drag racing. In body camera footage released Monday, a furious Jones called the officer a "f*cking liar" and a "pig," while adamantly denying any wrongdoing. As of this writing, Jones is still scheduled to rematch UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier on April 23 at UFC 197.
While Jones' exploits often draw only contempt from his fellow fighters, that doesn't appear to be the case this time. Mixed among the usual criticism were several fighters who sympathized with Jones as the victim of racial profiling. Check out reaction from the pros below.
Flying too close to the sun champ. #WiseUp

The police officer that pulled @JonnyBones over is the stereotyping, targeting, profiling, harassing type that give good officers a bad wrap

Since when did the police force in Albuquerque, New Mexico, start filming #UFCEmbedded?
— Dan Hardy (@danhardymma) March 29, 2016
@goonerjb @UFCONFOX Agreed. Not cool at all. He does have a bad rep, so I'm guessing there's a disdain for him, like the cop semi admitted.

Id bet money a lot of ppl on here wud react similar to Jones, if wrongfully accused. Jon messed up bc he was already on probation. Not smart
— Aljamain Sterling (@FunkMaster_UFC) March 29, 2016
They release Jon cussing and painting him in the light they wanted. Release the drag-racing clip. If so, no dispute. https://t.co/PxuzgmwxJ3

Damn Jon Jones looked pretty fucked up in his recent run in w/ the law, also pretty wreck less cursing the officer out! #Champ2Chump #ufc

.@MatheusDCAquino eh, they're just hating on him. Did nothing wrong. Cop knew his history & wanted to make an example of him #FreeJonJones
— Saul Almeida (@SaulAlmeida) March 28, 2016
.@MatheusDCAquino well then, let's put him on timeout.

The only person who can defeat Jon Jones is, unfortunately, Jon Jones. :( https://t.co/HIyfPeytVs

You can tell from how he was speaking that he was racial profiling, and he doesn't like Jon. https://t.co/vtNf9MAefO

I don't get what Jon Jones was arrested for. Freedom of speech? Can't have tickets on probation? I support police, but that cop was a punk.
— Johnny Hollywood (@HollywoodCase) March 29, 2016
I know you have to want help in order to get help but I wonder how many of the people around him are really 100% focused on helping him.
— Will Brooks (@illwillbrooks86) March 29, 2016
I'm sure he's got people around him who really care and want to help him but I bet there's more yes men than those few that really care.
— Will Brooks (@illwillbrooks86) March 29, 2016
This is deeper than just getting a driver... He maybe sober but there's something else missing.
— Will Brooks (@illwillbrooks86) March 29, 2016
People say dumb stuff to cops all the time. Doesn't mean he's on something https://t.co/ZF67Z72nHy

Cormier is somewhere still being booed by fans. #

Today I had some of the best workouts I've had all camp. I've trained too hard and come too far to let anything get to me at this point.
