Emmanuel Sanchez signs multi-year extension with Bellator MMA

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Fresh off the best win of his career at Bellator 149 in February, rising prospect Emmanuel Sanchez is staying with the Viacom-backed mixed martial arts (MMA) organization for the foreseeable future.

Sources tell MMA Fighting that Sanchez has signed a mutli-year deal with Bellator MMA, although other specifics of the deal were not immediately available.

Sanchez, 25, defeated UFC veteran Daniel Pineda in Houston in February on the main card of Bellator 149 via split decision in a featherweight bout. The Duke Roufus-product is 5-1 inside the Bellator cage and holds a 13-2 professional record overall.

His only loss came to former Bellator featherweight champion Pat Curran at Bellator 139 in June of 2015. Curran won via unanimous decision.

There is no word on when Sanchez will return to the Bellator cage. In addition to Pineda, Sanchez holds Bellator wins over Justin Lawrence, Henry Corrales, Alejandro Villalobos and Stephen Banaszak.
