In what ended up being a very entertaining fight card in Brisbane, Australia, a couple of hometown favorites took home some extra cash.
Twenty-one-year-old Jake Matthews took home an additional $50,000 for putting on the Fight of the Night against Johnny Case on Saturday's main card. In a fight that featured a little bit of everything, Melbourne's Matthews ended up getting a submission with just 15 seconds left in the bout (rear-naked choke).
Matthews improved his UFC record to 4-1, and established himself as one to watch in the UFC's lightweight division.
Also taking home bonus money were Mark Hunt and Neil Magny.
The 41-year-old Hunt, who fought veteran Frank Mir in the main event, scored a walk-off knockout midway through the first round, which brought the fans at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre to their feet. Meanwhile Magny, who withstood an onslaught from Hector Lombard and was nearly finished in the first round, ended up turning the tables to score a third-round TKO (strikes).
Both Hunt and Magny also received $50,000 for their efforts.
